Remembrance

{1 Cr 11:24-25}   and when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner [He] also [took] the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink [it], in remembrance of Me.”

Remembrance twice… it must be a man thing?

Bible…by chapter 3, man has forgotten.

Jesus experienced betrayal, abandonment, slander, mockery & gross injustice. He endured the heartache of His disciples’ failures—-their failure to pray, failure to stand & failure to defend the truth about their most wonderful friend & Lord.

Jesus’ friends were not there for Him. They slept while He prayed. They fled when the Pharisees came {Matt 26:56}. During the trial in front of all the people, they could have certainly defended Jesus’ character & doctrine but they hid. Even if others would forsake Him, surely these who broke bread with Him, who knew His heart, would speak in His defence. Yet from Gethsemane to the cross, Jesus heard the voice of just one friend. It was Peter’s, who less than a day earlier had sworn undying loyalty, swearing now he never knew Him {Matt26:69-70; Luke 22:61}.

We need to remember Him all the time. {Col 3:23}And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, {2 Tim 4:5} But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

{1 Cr 11:26} For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

The word proclaim-to announce, declare, make known, to proclaim publicly.

What if you got a thousand dolour’s to share about Jesus? — Why is it we could overcome our fear of man for the love of money, but can’t overcome the fear of man for the love of God?

“The only thing evil men need to triumph is for good men to do nothing” Edmond Burke. {Pr 29:2}.

You see by doing nothing we deny Him. {Matt 10:33}”But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Deny means- “act entirely unlike himself, not to accept, to reject, to refuse something offered,”

{1 Cr 11:28} But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

That is why at this time before you & I take communion, we have the time to make things right with God!!
