It is important to train leaders and connect with them regularly. Run regular Leadership meetings so you can re -group often. Use this time to train and sharpen their leadership skills. Training sessions are for training, not preaching. If you don’t train your team, they won’t know what to do or how to be efficient, and that’ll make your job a lot harder.

What can you train then in?
Here’s some points :-
~Being an example. Leaders are to set the example.  If you train your leaders to arrive on time,  the rest will arrive on time.  If you train them to start on time,  the rest will arrive ready to start on time.
~Our attitudes,  the way we think,  speak etc,  have to be an example of how Jesus would have us live.  Most leaders are chosen in their qualities, so it’s important that they are reminded to keep standards that are pleasing to our Heavenly Father.
~Worship and prayer. Leaders can slacken off in this area.  Encourage them to have a routine of devotion with God.  If it helps encourage them to find another couple of people to meet with regularly to pray.
~Learners and growers. We are all learning and growing, so leaders, don’t get offended or upset if someone offends you.
~Cleaning.  Always clean the inside of you.  Not just a spring clean once a year,  but an often clean.  The bible says we are to examine ourselves, and that’s what we should do to make sure we are in the position where God wants us to be and living the example He has us be. Sometimes this time includes asking for forgiveness, forgiving and even breaking down a wall or two.
~Leading. Leaders must lead. Leaders are chosen for a reason and they usually step upto the plate and fill out the roll.  Sometimes they don’t know how to lead, so they will follow someone in the group who isn’t a leader. Train them on the skills they need for leading. Do role plays and scenarios.  Get them leading in leaders gatherings, where they can be guided and mentored to help strengthen their leadership skills.
~Ideas. Give leaders ideas of what to do with the people they lead. From studies to socialising. Sometimes they need help to think outside the box.

If you don’t train, You will drain.

Pastors aren’t meant to do everything and can’t do everything, so training is very important in a church.

Ephesians 4:11-13 (KJV)

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

Churches should involve the five fold ministry for effective training, for the work of the ministry. Like people training for a triathlon. You have a trainer who trains for each area and they complement each other.
